UCLA overcomes second half MSU lead to earn win
Montana State led for a time in the second half, but a seven-and-a-half minute scoreless spell in the second half doomed the Bobcats and vaulted UCLA to a 75-59 win over Montana State in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
Erik Rush led the Bobcats with 13 points, and freshman Tre Johnson added 10 points off the bench on five-for-seven shooting. MSU shot just 34% on the evening, with leading scorers Rush and Bobby Howard combining to shoot just 8-for-29.
The Bruins out-rebounded Montana State 39-to-38 in raising their record to 7-4. The Bobcats forced only 10 UCLA turnovers, about five fewer than the team averages on the season, while the Bruins shot 48% and blocked eight Bobcat shots.
Montana State takes a break for Christmas, returning to Worthington Arena to host Weber State in each team's Big Sky opener on December 29.
