Seniors Rush and Howard roll, and Cody Anderson adds career high
Erik Rush scored 21 points and added six steals to lead Montana State to a 94-60 win over Johnson & Wales in Bozeman on Friday.
Rush scored 21 points, his second-highest total of the season, and his six steals amounted to a career high. He also dished out three assists and grabbed a pair of rebounds.
“Erik took advantage of his athleticism and size tonight,” said MSU coach Brad Huse. “They didn't really have a matchup for Erik.”
While Rush and Bobby Howard, who scored 15 points, occupied their usual roles as MSU's offensive leaders, another scoring threat also emerged. Junior center Cody Anderson scored a career-high 14 points, his first double-digit effort of the season. “I thought Cody was more offensive-minded tonight,” Huse said. “He played strong inside.”
After Johnson & Wales, an NAIA school located in Denver, tied the game at 8-8 MSU exploded on a 19-1 run to take control. MSU also closed the half on a 13-5 run to take a 44-23 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats never got closer than 17 points in the second half.
The Bobcats take a break for final exams next week before heading to southern California for contests at UC Irvine (Dec. 19) and UCLA (Dec. 21) before Christmas break.
