
Despite Career High From Oemcke Bobcats Spikers Fall in Four

Montana State middle blocker Chelsea Oemcke recorded a career-high 15 kills, but it wasn’t enough as Idaho State handed the Bobcats a 27-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17 setback, Friday night in Shroyer Gym.

Montana State (10-18, 3-12) had its chances in the opening set building a 20-15 advantage following an Idaho State (18-11, 9-6) hitting error. ISU answered with five straight points to knot the score at 20-all. The set was tied three times down the stretch, before the Bengals posted a service ace and an MSU hitting miscue gave Idaho State the opening set 27-25.
The second stanza belonged to Idaho State as the Bengals outhit the Bobcats .429 to .154.
Montana State battled back from a 15-13 deficit in the third set with a 6-1 run to take a 19-16 lead. The Bobcats held at least a two-point cushion the remainder of the set, winning on a Rachelle Allen kill.
In the final stanza, it was hitting that made the difference again as Idaho State hit at a .357 clip, while holding MSU to .147.
Oemcke, a junior from San Diego, finished the match hitting .371 from the floor, while adding three blocks.
Also in double-digit kills was Allen with 15 and Sarah Horton 11. Freshman setter Mackenzi Campbell dished up a double-double with 50 assists and ten digs.
MSU was led defensively by Allen, Campbell and Meghan Albiston with 10 saves each.
Montana State will conclude its 2010 season Saturday night against Weber State. MSU will honor seniors Meghan Albiston and Jodeen Rademacher at the conclusion of the match.
