
Montana State Women have Record-Breaking Night in Win over Hornets

Montana State’s junior duo of Sarah Strand and Lyndi Seidensticker each notched career nights to lift the Bobcats to a 95-86 win over Sacramento State, Saturday night in Worthington Arena.

“We really needed a night like this,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “We concentrated on the offensive boards and turnovers, and we handled those areas very well.

Sophomore Katie Bussey led all scorers with 21 points, including 17 in the second half for the Bobcats. Also in double-digits were Erica Perry 14 and Rachel Semansky 10.
The opening stanza featured six ties and five lead changes. Sacramento State (4-12, 0-4) trailed by six points at the 4:28 mark but went on an 11-5 run to close out the half as the two teams entered intermission tied at 34-all.
In the second half, the Bobcats opened up a 58-42 advantage at the 14:09 mark following a barrage of three-pointers by Bussey and Seidensticker, who combined for four consecutive triples in a 1:50 span.
The Hornets climbed back to within six points at 85-69 with 2:57 remaining, but would get no closer.
MSU poured in 61 second-half points, while shooting 59 percent from the field and connecting on eight-of-14 three-point attempts.
The Bobcats also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Hornets 50-43.
