
BYU Defense Shuts Down 'Cat Attack

Brigham Young shutdown the Montana State offense holding the Bobcats to 31 percent from the field, while limiting MSU's top two scorers to under a combined ten points, en route to a 79-54 victory, Friday night in Worthington Arena.
“This shows that bigger, more physical teams are ones we struggle against,” said MSU fifth-year head coach Tricia Binford. “I didn't think we competed very well and we lacked focus. We really tried to force the issue, instead of being more patient in our offense.”
Brigham Young (2-1) held a slim 17-16 advantage midway through the opening stanza, then used an 8-0 run to increase their lead as
BYU opened the second half with an 11-2 run staking a 49-31 lead and never looked back.
MSU was paced in the loss by Sarah Strand with 10 points and four rebounds.
The Cougars held MSU's top two scorers, Katie Bussey and Erica Perry, to nine points.
Brigham Young also enjoyed a sizeable advantage under the boards, out-rebounding MSU 50-36. The Bobcats were led under the glass by freshman Ally Schmitt with five rebounds.
The Cougars were led in the win by Alexis Kaufusi with 12 points and nine rebounds.
