Amendt joined the Bobcat golf coaching staff during the summer of 2017.
In his role, Amendt assists coach Bayse with every aspect of the golf program which includes recruiting, player development, practice and lesson plans, tournament operations, team travel accomodations, as well as active volunteering in the Bozeman community.
Amendt helped the Bobcats achieve their best season to date. With him on staff, MSU completed its best scoring average in a season with 306.80 strokes per round during the 2017-18 season. The Bobcats picked up their first individual victory in five years when Kelly Hooper won the Grand Canyon Invitational on Feb. 25. Four Bobcats during Amendt's first year with MSU entered the top 20 list of individual best scoring averages in a season. MSU's golfers continued to develop in Amendt's second year as an assistant. The Bobcats took sixth at the Big Sky Championship, their highest finish at the conference meet since 2015. MSU also saw five individuals earn scoring averages that rank among the top 22 in program history.
Prior to joining Montana State, Amendt served 10 years as a golf instructor for several academies in Phoenix, Las Vegas and southern California. During that time, he served as an instructor for the Beaumont Elite Golf Academy developing international students and preparing them for collegiate golf.
While currently working towards his master's degree in sport management, Amendt completed his coaching training at the Golf Academy of America in Chandler, Ariz., and is a current Class A Master Certified Golf Teaching Professional. He has played in several mini tour events such as the Golden State Tour, Pepsi Tour, SCPGA and Open events in Arizona and California. He also has been affiliated working with the Symetra Tour, Canadian Tour and U.S. Women's Open Qualifying events.
