Five Bobcats finish Monday’s action in the top 10
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's golf team carded a 36-hole score of 10-over 586 at Riverside Country Club on Monday to take a six-stroke lead after one day of the Yellowstone Intercollegiate.

Montana State posted rounds of 289 and 297 to lead the field after two rounds in Bozeman. Five Bobcats finished the first day of action in the top 10 individually, highlighted by Eva Heinz's third-place effort at even-par 144. Sailor Graham heads into the tournament's final round tied for fifth place after shooting a 146 on Monday, and Norah Seidl is tied for ninth place at 4-over 148. Juniors Nadia Sanz Ouezzani and Elvira Flodström, who are competing as individuals, are tied for 10th place at 5-over 149. Sophomores Ashleigh Wilson (+6) and Lauren Nau (+8) round out the field for the Bobcats after day one, sitting in ties for 15th and 26th place, respectively, through 36 holes.

"We had a solid first round and made a lot of birdies. In the second round, we gave back more shots than we wanted with too many big numbers," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "We know this course, and tomorrow it's about trusting our games, competing and enjoying the walk. This group is gritty, and they'll be ready to bring it. We have another opportunity to play in front of our Bobcat supporters, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish in the final round."

The Bobcats led the field by nine strokes after Monday morning's first round, shooting 1-over 289 as a team over the first 18 holes. The Cats counted a 70 from Graham, a 72 by Seidl, a 73 from Heinz, and a 74 by Wilson to finish the first round with five golfers in the top 10 in the individual standings. Graham birdied seven times in her first 18 holes, sinking five in her final eight holes of the round to finish round one in second place. Flodström posted a 71 in her first round as a Bobcat thanks to a pair of birdies and 17 bogey-free holes while competing as an individual. Seidl's 72 featured birdies on holes 7, 10, and 11, as well as nine-straight bogey-free holes on Nos. 6 through 14. Heinz birdied four times in her round and went bogey-free on holes 5 through 14. Wilson went bogey-free on six of her last seven holes and birdied on holes 10 and 18 in her opening round.

Montana State posted a second-round score of 297 to wrap up the day 10-over 586. The Cats counted Heinz's 71, Nau's 74, and a pair of 76s from Graham, Seidl, and Wilson. Heinz sunk pars on each of her first 11 holes before adding an eagle on hole 15 and a birdie on hole 18. Nau birdied on holes 10 and 12 as part of a string of eight-straight bogey-free holes. Graham sunk four birdies in her round, including three-straight on holes 16 through 18. Seidl posted 11-straight bogey-free holes in her round, highlighted by a birdie on hole 6 and her birdie on No. 15. Wilson posted pars along the entire back nine in the most consistent stretch of her round. Sanz Ouezzani carded a 74 while competing individually, sinking three birdies and shooting par or better on six-straight holes to close the front nine.

The Bobcats (+10) lead Big Sky conference foe Weber State (+16) by six strokes after 36 holes of play, with North Dakota State (+18), California Baptist (+22), and North Dakota (+26) rounding out the top five teams on Monday.

North Dakota's Mallory Uselman shot 5-under 139 on Monday to take a four-stroke lead over California Baptist's Shuyi Cao (1-under 143). Heinz sits at an even-par 144 for third place, Southern Utah's Saylar May is 1-over 145, and Cala Korman (Weber State), Norah Roberts (North Dakota State), and Graham (Montana State) hold a three-way tie for fifth place at 2-over 146.

Montana State's team golfers and Sanz Ouezzani are paired with Weber State and North Dakota State on Tuesday, while Flodström is paired with golfers from Montana and Southern Utah.
