Taylee Chirrick scores 20 points and adds nine steals
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Feb. 19, 2026) – Montana State scored the game's first 10 points and never looked back, cruising to an 81-36 win over Weber State in Bozeman on Thursday night.
"We got off to a great start," said Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford. "I thought our starters really set the tone, with four out of five in double digits (scoring) and Ella (Johnson) with five steals. The starters were fantastic tonight."
Sophomore guard Taylee Chirrick led all players with 20 points, and she also piled up nine steals and four assists. Jamison Philip added 15 points with five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Isobel Bunyan (11 points) and Addison Harris (10 points) also scored in double figures, while Johnson supplemented her seven points with five rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Bobcats built a 19-12 advantage by the end of the first quarter, then outscored the Wildcats 33-4 in the second. MSU outscored Weber State in each of the four quarters, and won by the sixth-largest margin in program history against a Big Sky foe.
In holding its third opponent of 2025-26 under 40 points, the Bobcats forced 32 Weber State turnovers 32 turnovers and limited the Wildcats to 25.5 percent shooting. That included just 3-21 from three-point range.
Chirrick's individual effort stood as a topic of conversation for much of the evening. She snared three steals in the first quarter and added five in the second. Limiting her playing time to keep her fresh for Saturday, Binford said, may have curtailed her statistical output.
"She continues to do these amazing things in under 30 minutes," Binford said of Chirrick, whose nine steals came in 26 minutes. "She's very timely and she's everywhere on the court, her motor never stops."
The Bobcats raised their record to 19-6 overall and 12-2 in the Big Sky on Saturday. Weber State is now 8-20 overall, 2-13 in the conference. MSU faces an Idaho State team (18-8, 11-4) that defeated the Cats in Pocatello last month. Tipoff is 2 pm in Worthington Arena.
