Montana State carries 3-1 record into Friday and Saturday’s matches
BOZEMAN, Mont. --- The Montana State women's tennis team travels to Boise, Idaho, this weekend for a pair of dual matches against Boise State on Friday and Santa Clara on Saturday.
Friday's match against Boise State is set to begin at 6 p.m., and Saturday's matchup with Santa Clara will start at 11 a.m. Both matches will take place at Boas Indoor Tennis Center in Boise. Live stats from the Boise State match can be found here. There will be no live results for the Santa Clara match on Saturday.
"Boise State and Santa Clara will be two more tough tests for us," head coach Hailey Barrett said. "We have learned a lot from our first four matches and have gained a lot of confidence, but there is a lot of work to do against these two quality teams. We need to be ready to play smart and aggressive. We are excited to see what we can do and want to finish this stretch of the season well."
Montana State enters this weekend's matches with a 3-1 record, falling to Colorado, 7-0, last Friday before bouncing back with an impressive 4-1 victory over Colorado State on Sunday. The Bobcats dropped the doubles point to the Rams before winning four-straight singles matches from the top-four courts to secure the match victory. Terezie Stverakova provided the clincher with her 6-3, 6-2 win over Dylan Voeks on court No. 4.
Friday's matchup with Boise State will mark the second-straight matchup for the Bobcats against a Mountain West team, with the Broncos entering Friday with a 1-1 record. Boise State is set to face BYU on Friday morning before taking on the Cats in the evening. The Broncos lead the all-time series between the two teams, 26-19, and Friday marks the first meeting between Boise State and Montana State since Jan. 27, 2023, when the Cats fell to the Broncos, 4-1, in Boise.
Montana State and Santa Clara are set to face off for the second time in as many seasons on Saturday. The Broncos narrowly won the last matchup between the two teams, 4-2, on Jan. 25, 2025, at Ronca Tennis Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Santa Clara opened its dual-match season at Fresno State on Wednesday, falling to the Bulldogs, 6-1.
Following this weekend's matches, the Bobcats will have a couple weeks off before traveling to Moscow, Idaho, for their first Big Sky match at Idaho on Feb. 20. They will then face off against Washington State in Pullman on Feb. 22 before returning home for their first home match against Sacramento State on March 1.
