Cats sweep singles matches to post 4-1 win
(Jan. 25, 2026) – Terezie Stverakova took a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles to clinch Montana State's 4-1 women's tennis win at Colorado State on Sunday.
The Bobcats swept all four singles matches after dropping the doubles point to top CSU of the Mountain West. The victory by Stverakova, a freshman, on court four capped a dramatic turnaround. Junior Anna Wise got the ball rolling with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, and Angel Bean's 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 put the Cats in position to take the road win.
"This was a gritty win by this group today," said Montana State coach Hailey Barrett. "That was a tough Colorado State team and they fought hard. We lost a very close doubles point but hung tough in singles and played well in big moments."
Stverakova and Wise got the Cats off to a good start in doubles play, winning 6-2 at No. 1. But Lola Bean and Kavya Khirwar lost 6-2 at No. 2 and Angel Bean and Nia Gelashvili dropped a narrow 6-3 decision at No. 2.
"We know what we need to work on," Barrett said. "We have two more exciting opportunities next week."
The win raises Montana State's record to 3-1 on the season. The Bobcats play at Boise State on Friday and face Santa Clara in Boise on Saturday.
