Karli Heidemann led MSU with nine kills, while Camryn Greenwald added six behind a .750 attack mark.
Oregon State outhit Montana State .400 to .122 behind the play of 6-2 senior outside hitter Lauren Rumel who paced the Beavers with 19 kills and a .457 attack mark as OSU swept the Bobcats 25-14, 25-12, 25-21 on Thursday night in historic Gill Coliseum.
Oregon State (3-3) held a 12-10 lead early in the opening set before exploding on a 13-4 run to close out the frame. The Beavers held its momentum cruising to a second set victory outhitting Montana State (4-3) .419 to -.086.
The Bobcats rallied to open the final set taking a 10-5 lead following a Joelie Spelts kill. With the set tied at 14-all, back-to-back kills by Rumel gave OSU the cushion it needed to secure the match.
"We had moments of good, solid play," said MSU head coach Matt Houk. "What we need to take away from this is our ability to maintain a higher level of play over the course of a match."
