CASPER, Wyo. (June 17, 2025) – Four Bobcats moved into the top 10 in the third go of their events on Wednesday at day four of the 2025 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.
Wyatt Jensen marked 9.8 seconds in the tie down roping, fourth in the third go-round and 15th overall. Monte Bailey scored a 61.5 in his third saddle bronc ride of the week, eighth in the third go and sixth overall. Mitch Detton's 11.3 in the tie down roping put him into ninth in both the go-round and the event's overall standings. Michaela McCormick's 7.6 seconds in the goat tying move her into eighth in the go and 14th overall.
"We had kind of a tough day (Wednesday)," MSU head coach Kyle Whitaker said. "We had some Bobcats that really needed to have a good night that just didn't have things go their way. We still have the potential to get several in the short round and represent successfully, so that's what we are focused on for the rest of the week."
Only two Bobcats are up in Thursday's performance: Cole Gerhardt in steer wrestling an Sydney Berquist in breakaway roping. Athletes advance are working to advance to Saturday's short go in order to compete for a national championship.
Wednesday Performance:
Monte Bailey (Saddle Bronc) 63.5/78.0/61.5, 203.0 (8th in go/6th overall)
Wes Shaw (Bareback), 80.0/NS/NS, 80 (13th overall)
Holden Atkinson (Bull Riding) 77.5/NS/NS, 77.5 (7th overall)
Mitch Detton (Tie Down Roping) 25.6/12.3/11.3, 49.2 (9th in go/9th overall)
Wyatt Jensen (Tie Down Roping) 12.2/NS/9.8, 22.0 (4th in go/15th overall)
Wes Shaw (Steer Wrestling) 5.4/6.2/NS, 11.5 (13th)
