
Brewster, Christopher-Moody Sweep Women’s Athlete of the Week Awards

Sydney Brewster and Kyla Christopher-Moody named Big Sky Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in Palo Alto and Missoula
FARMINGTON, Utah – Montana State track and field swept both Big Sky Women's Athlete of the Week awards, the conference office announced on Monday, with thrower Sydney Brewster and distance runner Kyla Christopher-Moody earning the weekly nods.
Brewster was named Big Sky Women's Field Athlete of the Week, with Christopher-Moody named Big Sky Women's Track Athlete of the Week.
Brewster, a sophomore from Sandy, Oregon, won both the shot put and discus at the Montana Open in Missoula on Friday on the way to her second straight Big Sky weekly award and the fourth of her career.
The thrower set Montana State and Big Sky Conference records in the shot put last week at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach with a mark of 54-09.25, and followed it up with another big throw in Missoula on Friday, winning the event with a heave of 53-04.25.
The 2025 Big Sky indoor champion in the shot put currently leads the conference outdoors in the shot put, ranking fourth in the discus and sixth in the hammer.
Nationally, Brewster ranks 25th in NCAA Division I in the shot put.
Christopher-Moody, a graduate student from Royal Oak, Michigan, earns her second Big Sky weekly honor of the outdoor season and sixth overall between cross country and track and field across the last two years as a Bobcat.
The distance star broke the school record in the 5,000 meters last week at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, crossing the line in 15:47.56.
On Friday at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Palo Alto, California, Christopher-Moody turned in an impressive time of 15:58.55 to take third in a stacked field behind only the Arkansas All-American duo of Paityn Noe and Sydney Thorvaldson.
Already this spring, the veteran has broken school records in both the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters after setting MSU school records in the mile and 3,000 meters during the indoor season.
Christopher-Moody currently ranks third in the Big Sky in the 1,500 meters and fourth in the 5,000 meters.
Nationally, Christopher-Moody ranks 47th in NCAA Division I in the 5,000 meters.
Montana State track and field returns to action this weekend at the Bengal Invitational, hosted by Idaho State on Friday and Saturday at Davis Field.
