Montana State cruised to the opening doubles point but couldn't fend off Montana in singles action as the Grizzlies recorded a 4-3 win over the Bobcats on Saturday afternoon at Peak Raquet Club in Missoula.
Montana State's (9-10, 3-4) No. 2 doubles pairing of Marta Garcia-Reboredo and Hudson Hawkins opened with a 6-2 win over Olivia Moir and Kelsey Phillips. MSU's No. 3 duo Angel Bean and Kavya Khirwar quickly followed with a 6-2 decision over Shivika Agrawal and Monika Fizova to secure the first point.
Montana (4-13, 2-5) grabbed the momentum in singles play winning at the top spot as Grace Haugen recorded a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Garcia-Reboredo. Rosie Sterk followed at No. 3 with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win over Bean to give UM a 2-1 advantage.
