MSU faces talented Wildcats team plagued with injuries
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Nov. 7, 2025) – Montana State head football coach Brent Vigen doesn't worry about rankings, isn't concerned about strength of schedule, doesn't pay much attention to anything beyond his team's next opponent.
But there's one thing he looks most forward to every time a new week dawns and the next Saturday appears.
"Opportunity," he says succinctly. "It's about the opportunity to prepare and play one more game."
Montana State's next opportunity arrives on Saturday in the form of Weber State (3-6 overall, 1-4 in the Big Sky). The Bobcats (7-2, 5-0) look to extend their winning streak to eight games and the team's streak in Big Sky home games to 21 games.
"We're always excited to play in front of our fans," Vigen said. Montana State fans respond in kind, filling Bobcat Stadium for 30 straight non-conference home games, a streak that will grow by one on Saturday.
Weber State has battled through a wave of injuries that have hit the offensive skill positions particularly hard. Junior Dijon Jennings starts at quarterback, with he and freshman Kinston Tisdell splitting reps a week ago. They combined for 213 yards passing against No. 2 Montana. UM rushed for 193 yards against the Wildcats defense, and threw for 329.
The Bobcats found success on the road a week ago, topping Northern Colorado 55-7. Montana State rushed for 189 yards and throwing for 343. Justin Lamson's 331 passing yards and Taco Dowler's 138 receiving yards were each career highs, but they day's highlight may have been defensive tackle Talon Marsh's 80-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Saturday's game airs around Montana on CBS stations, and on The Spot-MTN in Missoula, with Ben Creighton, Ty Gregorak and Grace Lawrence on the call. Keaton Gillogly, Leo Davis and Dan Davies call the game on the Bobcat Radio Network.
