Montana State's Madilyn Siebler and Karli Heidemann enjoyed the opening minutes of their return to Nebraska. Siebler, from Omaha, and Heidemann, Diller, each recorded three kills during a 12-10 Bobcat run which closed No. 2 Nebraska's margin to 15-13 at the first media timeout.
Nebraska (5-1) fought off Montana State (1-4) down the stretch. Following a Bobcat block by Jourdain Kamps and Camryn Greenwald at 21-18, the Huskers rattled off a 4-1 run to take the opening set en route to a 25-19, 25-15, 25-10 victory over MSU on Saturday afternoon in front of 8,456 fans in the Devaney Sports Center.
The Huskers outhit the Bobcats .316 to .069 in the set frame and .571 to .069 in set three.
Siebler and Kamps paced MSU with seven kills apiece. Siebler hit a respectable .294 from the floor and added five digs. Defensively, the Bobcats were led by Lauren Lindseth with a match-high 12 digs, while Jordan Radick chipped in four blocks.
MSU outblocked Nebraska 6-4.
The Huskers were led by Harper Murray with 11 kills and six digs.
Montana State plays at the South Dakota Invitational next weekend, opening against the Coyotes on Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. (MT).
