
MSU Track and Field Earns Academic Recognition from USTFCCCA

19 Bobcats named All-Academic Athletes, both men's and women's squads selected All-Academic Teams
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- 19 members of the Bobcat track and field teams were named All-Academic Athletes and both men's and women's teams were named All-Academic Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week.
11 Montana State men's student-athletes and eight women's student-athletes earned recognition, which takes into account both athletic performance during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons as well as academic performance in the classroom.
The 11 Montana State men on the list were tied for the eighth-most by any program in the country, only behind teams including Duke, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford.
Men's: Harvey Cramb, Sam Ells, Ian Fosdick, Matt Furdyk, Jett Grundy, Elijah Jackman, Rob McManus, Ben Perrin, Janis Pohl, Owen Smith, and Colby Wilson
Women's: Sydney Brewster, Maisee Brown, Elena Carter, Clara Fox, Grace Gilbreth, Caroline Hawkes, Hannah Perrin, Shelby Schweyen
Additionally, both Montana State men's and women's teams earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The Bobcat women finished with a 3.55 GPA, while the Bobcat men finished with a 3.35 GPA.
To earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors, athletes must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
Athletes must also have either: finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, or for the outdoor season must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (the Preliminary Championship Competition and/or the Final Championship Competition) or for the multi-events, must have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the East or top 48 in the West for the most recent outdoor season.
