BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Under the bright lights of the 2024 United States Olympic Team Trials beginning Friday night, five current and former Montana State track and field athletes will take to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, competing for the chance to represent their country with Team U.S.A at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Rob McManus and Ben Perrin, who just wrapped up a collegiate season in which they earned a haul of medals while leading the Cats to their first men's outdoor track and field title since 2005, will descend upon Eugene alongside three former teammates in Duncan Hamilton ('23), Derrick Olsen ('22), and Drake Schneider ('22).
Montana State director of track and field and cross country Lyle Weese is familiar with the stage his athletes will take this week, having competed in the steeplechase at the 2004, 2008, and 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
"It is exciting to be well-represented at another significant meet," Weese said. "This time, with three former and two current Bobcats. Drake, Derrick, and Duncan did incredible things in their time at MSU and Rob and Ben are current Bobcats that can take this experience forward with them and back to teammates."
