Bobcat Star Elena Carter Earns Big Sky Athlete of the Week Honors for Both Track and Field

Helena product sets MSU record in 100 hurdles
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State senior Elena Carter added more acclimation to her senior season Monday, earning Big Sky Conference Women's Track Event Athlete of the Week and Co-Field Event Athlete of the Week honors. It marks the first time this season the league has selected a single athlete for both awards.
Carter, from Helena, set the Bobcat school record in the 100 meter hurdles Saturday at the Bengal Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho, with a winning mark of 13.45 altitude adjusted. That tops her previous record of 13.53 from the 2022 outdoor season. Carter's mark is the best in the Big Sky this season, and she also finished second in the 100 meters (11.96).
For good measure, Carter also won the long jump with a mark of 20-05.00, improving her No. 3 all-time mark in MSU history. Along with teammate Hailey Coey, Carter is one of four MSU women all-time to jump 20 feet (Janet Buntin, 1983 and Lacy Hinzpeter, 2003). Her long jump mark is second-best in the league this spring.
Montana State closes the regular season at the Tom Gage Invitational in Missoula next week, a tune-up for the Big Sky Championships in Bozeman May 8-11.
