“I’d like to see us take a step in our transition defense from our Blue and Gold scrimmage,” Binford said. “And we need to continue to build some chemistry. We’re excited to get into uniform and in front of our home crowd.”
In its final tune-up before opening the regular season on Monday, Nov. 4 against Chadron State, the Montana State women's basketball team hosts Carroll College in exhibition play, Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Worthington Arena.
Bobcat head coach Tricia Binford got a glimpse of her squad a week ago and is looking forward to the team making strides from its first outing.
"I'd like to see us take a step in our transition defense from our Blue and Gold scrimmage," Binford said. "And we need to continue to build some chemistry. We're excited to get into uniform and in front of our home crowd."
Montana State returns ten players, including four starters, from last year's squad that posted a 17-16 overall mark – the program's 17th consecutive non-losing season – and a 10-8 in Big Sky record. The Bobcats added Esmeralda Morales, a First Team All-Big Sky selection at Portland State, along with New Mexico transfer Hannah Robbins during the offseason. Freshmen Teagan Erickson, Addison Harris and Taylee Chirrick round out the roster.
"We definitely want to get everyone into the exhibition," Binford said. "The deep line up that we have is a strength we want to maximize, so we want to make sure that we're getting everyone into the flow of the game."
Carroll College, under the leadership of Rachelle Sayers, a former Big Sky Conference standout at Weber State who is entering her 14th season with the Saints, went 28-6 last season and advanced to the NAIA Final Four.
Carroll College hosts Arizona Christian on Thursday night, prior to its trip to Bozeman.
