BOBCAT GAME DAY NOTEBOOK #7: MSU Hosts Idaho in a 'Big' Game
10/12/2024 7:18:00 PM | Football
Top 10 opponents have met in Bobcat Stadium on 37 previous occasions
BOZEMAN, Montana – If tonight's contest has a big-game feel, it should. This marks the 38th contest between top 10 opponents in Bobcat Stadium.
The most recent was last year's playoff loss to North Dakota State, but in Brent Vigen's four seasons at MSU the Cats have hosted six previous top 10 vs. top 10 showdowns. The Bobcats won each of the five before last year's NDSU game.

This is Montana State's 49th consecutive week ranked in the FCS top 10.

Redshirt freshman Taki Uluilakepa makes his first career start tonight, beginning the game at free safety for Caden Dowler. Dru Polidore returns from injury to make his season debut as his backup.

The only other injury this week is to tight end Rylan Schlepp. He will miss tonight's game.

Idaho Vandals coach Jason Eck is the eighth former Bobcat assistant coach to face MSU as a head coach. He is 1-0 against the Cats. Others include Bart Andrus of Southern Utah, Mick Delaney of UM, Land Jacobsen of Western New Mexico, Mike Kramer of Eastern Washington (who eventually became a Bobcat head coach), Sonny Lubick of CSU (who had previously been a Bobcat assistant and head coach), Dave Preszler of Fort Lewis, and Jim Sweeney of Fresno State (who had previously been an MSU assistant and head coach).
