NEXT UP: The Montana State volleyball team will head east this weekend, competing in the Bryant University Tournament in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Bobcats will open play against Boston College on Friday, Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. (MT) at the Chace Athletic Center. MSU will also face Harvard on Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by the Bulldogs to close out tournament action at 11 a.m.
BOBCAT BITES: Montana State was bitten by the three-two flu last weekend at the Bobcat Classic, dropping all three of its matches by identical 3-2 decisions, the last being a hard-fought contest against St. Thomas that went 20-18 in the fifth set. Sophomore Courtney Weatherby paced the Bobcats averaging 3.30 kills per set with a .245 attack mark. The outside hitter from Kuna, Idaho also chipped in 2.60 digs per game, en route to being named to the all-tournament team. MSU continued its tradition of being a strong blocking team, posting 2.13 team blocks per contest.
SIDE OUTS:
* Courtney Weatherby recorded a career-high 20 kills against St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.
* Courtney Weatherby led Montana State with 17 digs in its match with Grand Canyon.
* Kaycee O'Dell, Emma Pence and Jordan Radick all averaged over 1.00 bps last weekend.
* Sophomore setter Audrey Hofer averaged 8.69 assists per set in the opening week of play.
* Last fall, MSU ranked No. 1 in the Big Sky and were 61st in the country with 264 total blocks
* Jordan Radick was the 2021 Big Sky Freshman of the Year, the first for MSU since 2013.
