FARMINGTON, Utah – Montana State track and field's Lucy Corbett improved on her own school record this weekend and in the process earned the Big Sky Conference's Women's Field Athlete of the Week award, the league announced on Monday.
Lucy Corbett got the team going in the women's high jump at the Washington State Invitational this past Friday evening. Corbett cleared 5 feet, 10.50 inches (1.79), to top a talented field in the competition. The mark was an improvement of a half inch on her previous indoor school record. Corbett didn't have a miss at the height to finish first place in the event. While breaking the facility record, Corbett also has the 26th best high jump in Division I this indoor season.
The honors are the second for Corbett this indoor season. She was previously selected with the accolade by the Big Sky Conference following the Bobcat Preview in December.
Montana State track and field is gearing up for its final event ahead of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships. The Bobcats will host the Big Sky Preview in Worthington Arena this Friday. They follow that by serving as host of the Big Sky meet from Feb. 24-26 in their home facility.
