The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2020 Division I Women's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Eight Bobcat players garnered academic kudos, while the Bobcats, as a team, also received ITA academic recognition.
Earning ITA all-academic honors for MSU were Mirte Van Baelen, Linnea Fristam, Laura Mary, JJ Chen, Evi Buijsen, Enni Zander, Daphne Havercamp and Caitlin Ward.
"I am very proud of our team's academic standard," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "We recruit academically driven student-athletes and they consistently bring their best in the classroom year-to-year. They are terrific representatives of student-athletes and Montana State University."
The team's cumulative grade-point average of 3.85 is one of the best in the Big Sky Conference.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, players must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letterwinners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
Over 1,430 Division I student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, while 244 programs were awarded the all-academic team distinction.
