Editor's Note: We will take next week off from Friday Digs and will resume in two weeks introducing our newcomers.
It's no secret head coach Daniel Jones wants to sign the best in-state talent to the Bobcat roster. And a year ago, he landed what he considered the most gifted athlete in the state from just down the road in Ennis. It was also apparent early that Jourdain Klein has the makings for something special with her athleticism and size. Last fall, she redshirted and was able to learn the Bobcat system while providing a strong presence in the practice gym. Jones will look to Klein this season as a key cog in the Bobcat rotation.
CATCHING UP WITH JOURDAIN:
1). Can you give us an update on your current status?
Currently I am back in Bozeman and have been practicing/lifting with the team. When I'm not at practice I've been hiking, hanging out at the lake in Ennis, and playing some sand volleyball with my roommates. Our house also just took a trip up to Glacier which was super fun.
2). How do you think the spring volleyball season was progressing before everything shut down?
I was really happy with the way this spring season was going before we got shut down. There were a lot of things I was working on to improve my game, so it was tough that it was cut short. I definitely wish we would have had more time, but I am thankful for what I was able to accomplish.
3). What are your goals heading into the fall and what are the expectations for the team?
We have several goals as a team. Our main goal as a team is to win the Big Sky Conference tournament. We also have a goal to beat the Griz every time we play them. Personally, my main goal is to play this season following my redshirt year.
HEAD COACH DANIEL JONES ON JOURDAIN KLEIN:
"When Jourdain arrived last year as a freshman we felt strongly that she would benefit from a redshirt year. I believe that the patience and hard work that Jourdain has exhibited through the past year are really going to pay off. She is stronger in the weight room; she has made some key technical adjustments and she has learned to play at a higher pace with the collegiate game. I'm really excited to see what she is going to be able to do."
