
Montana State Golf Closes Out GCU Invitational

Seniors Delaney Elliott and Kelly Hooper carded another strong round to lead the Bobcats on Sunday
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Seniors Delaney Elliott and Kelly Hooper led the Montana State golf team for the second consecutive day as the Bobcats wrapped up the final round of the GCU Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Grand Canyon University Golf Course.
Elliott and Hooper moved up the individual standings on Sunday. Each shot 3-over-par 75 during second round play. The duo tied for 27th overall by carding a 151 over a two-day span.
Rounding out MSU's lineup were Lucia Prieto Romano, Sofia Rodriguez Todd and Coral Schulz. Prieto Romano shot a 7-over 79 on Sunday and finished with 36-hole score of 162 to tie for 71st. Rodriguez tied for 74th with a 163 and Schulz tied for 78th with a 165.
"Kelly and Delaney led the team this weekend," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "They had consistent scores and held steady, so I'm happy with their performances. We have things to work on over the next week and a half before we head to our next event."
Grand Canyon won the team title over Cal Baptist by one stroke, finishing with 576 strokes as a team. The Lopes' Alexis Linam finished first by carding a 138. The Bobcats took 13th in the standings with a 625.
Montana State travels to Hawai'i for its next tournament from March 10-11 when the Bobcats compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
