FROM HEAD COACH JEFF CHOATE
"Compliments to Sacramento State. I feel like they beat us on both sides of the line of scrimmage, something we've clearly hung our hat on around here. Our inability to win those short-yardage situations was a big factor in the game. (We played) a very good football team today. They executed at a very high level, we did not in any phase, in my opinion, up to our capability."
On MSU's struggles on third down defensively: "I think that was a huge issue in the game. We got them off schedule a couple of times but they were a step ahead of us, quite honestly. Every time we played man they had a little pick route to get a guy open, and every time we played zone they had the right call. You have to compliment them. There were some things we left out there, certainly, but we were beat by a better team today."
On Sac State's ability to mitigate MSU's pass rush: "They do a great job getting the ball out fast. A lot of their stuff is (run-pass option), and those were things they executed at a really high level. Every time we went into a dime package those guys would sneak down thinking they had to defend the run and he did a nice job riding the RPO and was very accurate when he threw the ball. They don't give up a lot of sacks anyway because they do get the ball out so quickly."
FROM SENIOR SAFETY JOJO HENDERSON
On containing Sacramento State: "It's tough, especially when you have a quarterback that can run because you have to honor his ability to run… It got a little demoralizing as they marched down (converting) third downs. My hat goes off to (quarterback Kevin Thomson). Even when guys were covered he threw them open. Even when we knew they were going to pass, he picked us apart."
