Hooper Paces MSU Through First Round of The Challenge at Coeur d’Alene Resort

Junior Kelly Hooper is second in the individual standings through 18 holes in the Bobcats' second tournament of its 2018-19 season
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho – Montana State's Kelly Hooper is among the leaders after the first round at The Challenge at Coeur d'Alene Resort on Monday, Sept. 17, at Couer d'Alene Golf Course.
Hooper shot a team-best 1-over-par 73 and is currently in second place in the individual standings. The Bobcat junior trails Eastern Washington's Alexa Clark by two strokes and sits ahead of a group of Eagles.
Eastern Washington leads the team standings with a score of 296 strokes through 18 holes. All five golfers in the Eagles lineup are among the top five, which includes those tied with the same score, in the tournament field.
The Bobcats are second among four teams after tallying a 309 during the first of two rounds in Coeur d'Alene. Clare Dittemore is tied for 12th following a first-round 78, Coral Schulz and Delaney Elliott are tied for 15th after each carded a 79, while Lilly Navarre is in 18th with an 8-over 80.
Three other MSU golfers are playing individually in the tournament. Freshmen Sofia Rodriguez Todd and Hailey Oster are tied for fifth with matching scores of 76. Lucia Prieto Romano rounds out the MSU contingent currently in 25th with an 85.
Montana State closes out play at The Challenge at Coeur d'Alene Resort on Tuesday with a final set of 18 holes. Shotgun start is set for approximately 9 a.m. MST.
