Cats Drop Two at UC Irvine Tourney

The Montana State volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches at the UC Irvine Tournament, Friday afternoon. UCI handed MSU a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 setback in the tournament opener, while Cal State Bakersfield swept the Bobcats 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 in the night cap.
The Montana State volleyball squad dropped a pair of matches at the UC Irvine Tournament, Friday afternoon. UCI handed MSU a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 setback in the tournament opener, while Cal State Bakersfield swept the Bobcats 25-23, 25-16, 25-22 in the night cap.
Against Cal State Bakersfield (6-7), the Bobcats were paced by freshman Hannah Scott with a team-high nine kills. Defensively, Montana State (4-4) was led by Natalie Passeck and Allyssa Rizzo with 19 and 15 digs, respectively.
For the match, the Roadrunners out-hit the Bobcats .201 to .134, while also holding advantages in kills, assists, aces, and digs.
In the tournament opener, the Anteaters cruised to the sweep out-hitting the Cats .393 to .089. Montana State was led by Passeck with six kills, while Rizzo guided MSU in the back row with 11 saves.
MSU finishes the tournament at Long Beach State, Saturday at 8 p.m.
