For the eighth time in Montana State history, the Bobcats will host collegiate skiing's top event. MSU was awarded the 2020 NCAA Skiing Championships as selected by the NCAA Division I Championships Cabinet on Tuesday.
The 2020 NCAA Championships will take place at Bridger Bowl and Bohart Ranch.
"Bobcat skiing, Montana State University and the Bozeman community are excited to once again host the NCAA Skiing Championships," said MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello. "We are proud to host the best student-athletes in one of the best settings for collegiate skiing."
The last time the Bobcats played host to the national championships was in 2012. MSU also hosted in 1960, '83, '85, '96, '98 and '08.
"We are incredibly excited to bring the NCAA Championships back to Bozeman," said MSU Nordic coach Matthew Johnson. "Our campus sits right under some of the best terrain for Nordic and alpine skiing in the country and we have an incredible ski community that has been waiting since 2012 for this amazing event to come home."
This past winter, the Bobcat ski team finished sixth at the NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire. In addition, MSU totaled eight All-America finishes, including junior Benni Lyche who won the individual women's giant slalom title, becoming just the fourth Bobcat to ever accomplish the milestone.
"Bobcat skiing is more competitive than ever," said MSU alpine coach Kevin Francis. "I'm excited to showcase our team, Montana State University and the Bozeman community."
As MSU preps for the 2020 NCAA Championships, the 2018 and 2019 national meets will be hosted by Colorado in Steamboat Springs and the University of Vermont at Stowe Mountain Resort and the Trapp Family Lodge, respectively.
