Miller 11th at NCAA Championships to Guide MSU Nordic Team

Montana State senior and All-America performer Anika Miller placed 11th in the women’s five-kilometer classic race in a time of 15:44.5, Thursday morning at the 2017 NCAA Skiing Championships.
Montana State senior and All-America performer Anika Miller placed 11th in the women's five-kilometer classic race in a time of 15:44.5, Thursday morning at the 2017 NCAA Skiing Championships.
Miller, a native of McCall, Idaho, led three Bobcats in scoring. Also contributing were freshman Kathleen O'Connell, 28th, 16:43.5, and Johanna Taliharm, 33rd, 16:57.7.
Colorado's Petra Hyncicova won the women's title in 14:55.5.
The Bobcat men were paced by Karsten Hokanson, 26th, 27:55.5, and Noah Andersen, 38th, 29:17.9.
Martin Bergstroem of Utah captured the men's 10-K classic crown in 25:33.1.
Behind a strong Nordic performance, Utah took over the top spot in the team standings with 301.5 points. The Utes are followed in the top five by Denver 265, CU 240, MSU 177, and Dartmouth 170.
The alpine slalom events will take place on Friday at Cannon Mountain.
