
Bobcat Skiers Set for NCAAs

The Montana State ski will compete in the 2017 NCAA Championships in one of the most historic venues in the eastern United States when it travels to Franconia and Jackson, New Hampshire, for the 64th Annual NCAA meet.
STEEPED IN TRADITION - 2017 NCAA SKIING CHAMPIONSHIP:
The Montana State ski will compete in the 2017 NCAA Championships in one of the most historic venues in the eastern United States when it travels to Franconia and Jackson, New Hampshire, for the 64th Annual NCAA meet. The championships are slated for March 8-11 at the Jackson Ski Touring Center (Nordic) and Cannon Mountain (Alpine). The championships will be hosted by UNH for the fifth time. Last year, MSU finished a program best fourth overall.
The schedule for the championships:
March 8 Women's and Men's Giant Slalom 7 a.m. (MST)
March 9 Women's 5K/Men's 10K Classical 8 a.m. (MST)
March 10 Women's and Men's Slalom 7 a.m. (MST)
March 11 Men's 20K/Women's 15K Freestyle 8 a.m. (MST)
ABOUT THE BOBCATS:
Montana State will send eleven of a possible 12 skiers to the NCAA Skiing Championships this week. Qualifying from men's alpine: Garret Driller, Addison Dvoracek and Morten Bakke; women's alpine: Stephanie Gartner, Benedicte Lyche and Jocelyn McCarthy; men's Nordic: Noah Andersen and Karsten Hokanson; women's Nordic: Anika Miller, Kathleen O'Connell and Johanna Taliharm. Of the eleven racing next week for MSU six have received All-America accolades led by Bakke and Lyche (2x), along with Driller, Gartner, McCarthy and Miller. Miller is the reigning NCAA national champion in Nordic freestyle. Last winter, the senior from McCall, Idaho became only the third Bobcat in history to claim an individual national championship for Montana State.
ALL-ROCKY MOUNTAIN INTERCOLLEGIATE SKI ASSOCIATION:
Several Montana State skiers earned All-RMISA honors last week. Named to the All-RMISA First-Team: Benedicte Lyche, Garret Driller. All-RMISA Second-Team: Morten Bakke, Addison Dvoracek and Karsten Hokanson.

THE 2017 USCSCA NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ALL-ACADEMIC SKI TEAMS:
Several Bobcats earned national academic recognition this week. Skiers must have a 3.50 grade-point average or higher and have competed in the RMISA/NCAA West Regional Championships. Named to the squad were Noah Anderson, Morten Bakke, Jeffrey Bell, Patrick Carry, Addison Dvoracek, Jordan Floyd, Karsten Hokanson, Kari Hole, Martin Muan, David Neuhauser, Kathleen O'Connell, Emma Tarbath.
