CATS IN CAMP DAY 14: Tyler Bruggman Leads MSU Offense

Johnny D'Agostino makes circus catch for only TD of the day
Tyler Bruggman led Montana State's offense on two scoring drives in three opportunities to highlight the team's final major scrimmage of fall camp on Friday night in Bobcat Stadium.
"They did their job in two of the three (drives)," head coach Jeff Choate said of his top offensive unit. "I thought it was pretty good. We need a couple more explosive plays, that was one thing that stood out, but I thought they operated within the offense well. We were able to mix tempos on one of the drives and I thought Courtney (Messingham, offensive coordinator) did a really nice job."
Bruggman threw a 20-yard scoring strike to Johnny D'Agostino for the day's only touchdown, and the other scoring chance resulted in a 29-yard missed field goal. Redshirt freshman Devon Tandberg hit field goals of 18 yards and 26 yards, while freshman Gabe Peppenger hit a 27-yarder.
Montana State's defense forced one turnover, a hit by Sidney Holmes III on Connor Sullivan that resulted in a fumble. Choate praised the Bobcat defense. In addition to the turnover, Mac Bignell broke up a pass, Zach Wright had two sacks and Shiloh LaBoy one, Fletcher Collins had a tackle-for-loss, and Damien Washington broke up a pass.
"By and large I thought our tackling was good. I liked the level of physicality. Even when throws were made and catches were made we were putting guys on the ground. They threw a 12-yard route, they get 12 yards."
Bruggman finished the scrimmage 9-for-17 passing for 132 yards and the touchdown, while freshman Chris Murray completed nine of his 12 passes for 85 yards. He also carried seven times for 45 yards. Freshman Anthony Pegues carried seven times for 48 yards.
