Bobcat Duo Lands Big Sky Athlete of the Week Honors After Sweeping Griz

Women's hurdler, men's thrower nab weekly kudos
A pair of Bobcats who posted strong performances in Montana State's track and field sweep of the Grizzlies last weekend reaped another reward on Monday when they were named Big Sky Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Hurdler Amanda Jaynes, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, broke the one-minute barrier in the 400 meter hurdles, with her 59.69 standing as the third-best in school history. She won three events to lead the Bobcats past Montana on the women's side of the rivalry, and is one of just three Big Sky athletes to finish a 400 m hurdles race in unde ra minute this season. She is now within the top 48 in the NCAA Division I West Region rankings.
Zach Sharp, a senior from Billings, tossed the hammer a personal best 198-5, the second straight week he's set a new personal best mark. This week's toss came in his last attempt and helped secure a one-two finish (with teammate Calvin Root) that helped secure Montana State's win over the Grizzlies in the men's dual. Sharp sits second in the Big Sky in the hammer throw, and stands 33rd in the West Region.
Eastern Washington's Kaytlyn Coleman won women's field event honors this week, while Sacramento State's Paul Lyons earned men's track honors.
