Rider, Chrisp Open California Weekend with Multi-Event Competition

A pair of MSU student-athletes opened competition in California Wednesday
The Montana State track and field team's foray into California began Wednesday when a pair of heptathletes competed in the California Invitational multi-event competition.
Danielle Rider stands in 14th place (out of 50 competitors) after the first five events, while Jessica Chrisp is 26th. Rider recorded marks of 14.80 in the 100 hurdles, 5-3.75 in the high jump, 40-8 in the shot put, and 25.82 in the 200 m. Chrisp registered a 15.49 in the 100 hurdles, 5-2.25 in the high jump, 31-0 in the shot put, and 25.33 in the 200.
"I thought they both competed well," said MSU coach Dale Kennedy. "Jesse clipped a hurdle or her time would have been much better, and that was unfortunate. But, it was a good start."
Several Bobcat men competed in the Mt. SAC Invitational, with results not yet available. Both competitions are staged at Azusa Pacific, and are among a series of meets in which nearly two dozen Biobcats compete this weekend.
