Rider, Storm Hold First Day Lead to Win Multis

HEPTATHLON RESULTS | DECATHLON RESULTS
Danielle Rider and Mason Storm held on to their first day lead of the heptathlon and decathlon in season opener to win the multi's of the Montana State Open. Despite windy, snowy conditions, Rider totaled 4,880 points and Storm tallied 6,311, both placing in the top three of every event in the competition.
Storm was victorious in six of ten events, while placing second three times and adding one third place finish. After day one, Storm led the pack by 300 points with 3,353 points after five events. In the 110H, the sophomore finished in 15.13, with Trevor Simanski in second, clocking 17.02. Storm edged out Simanski in the 1500 by .05 seconds, finishing the race inf 5:00.80. In the discus, Storm threw 124-10 and cleared 12-09.5 in the pole vault.
Simanski placed second in his first career decathlon, bringing in 5,399 points. Simanski placed first in the 400 on day one and added five second place finishes throughout the two days. Tristen Gray and Luke Middelstadt also competed in the decathlon, scoring 4,964 and 4,525 points.
Rider and Jessica Chrisp continue to be a one-two punch in the women's multi's, placing first and second after seven events. Chrisp scored 4,641 points and totaled two top finishes.
The javelin was won by over 19 feet, with Rider throwing 116-10 in the event. Chrisp placed second in the 800, running a time of 2:33.71, while Rider placed third in 2:34.11.
The MSU Open will continue tomorrow morning with the women's pole vault beginning at 10 a.m. at the Bobcat Track and Field Complex.
