HOME SWEET HOME: After playing five of its first six contests of the season away from home the Montana State women's basketball team will host a pair of non-conference games this weekend in Worthington Arena. The Bobcats will celebrate their 2015-16 Big Sky Conference championship with the unfurling of a new banner on Friday, Dec. 2 against Carroll College at 7 p.m. MSU will close out the weekend on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. when it hosts Seattle U.
ON A SERIES NOTE: The Bobcats have faced Frontier Conference foe Carroll College on twelve occasions dating back to Dec. 10, 1981 and have posted a 12-0 against the Fighting Saints, including a 74-34 decision last winter in Worthington Arena. Seattle U holds a 5-4 advantage in its all-time series with the Montana State, however, the Bobcats have won the last two meetings, including a 80-51 victory last November in the Emerald City.
BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Montana State senior Riley Nordgaard has been name the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week. Playing in her first action of the season, Nordgaard helped Montana State to a 2-1 record on its California road-swing, which included winning the Tiger Turkey Tip-off Classic defeating Pacific and Santa Clara. MSU opened its road trip with a loss at undefeated UC Davis. For the three games, Nordgaard averaged 12.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game. In her first game back against UCD, she notched 11 points and 12 rebounds. Two nights later she again posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Tigers. Against Santa Clara, she led MSU with 17 points, while pulling down four rebounds and adding five steals and an assist. Nordgaard also connected on four-of-six from behind the 3-point arc against the Broncos. For the weekend, she shot 41 percent from the field, 36 percent from long distance and was a perfect nine-of-nine at the charity stripe.
