Bobcats add seventh athlete to 2017 recruiting class
The Montana State women's track and field team has added Amber Prevedello to its 2017 recruiting class, head coach Dale Kennedy and assistant coach Tom Eitel announced Thursday.
A native of Eugene, Oregon, Prevedello primarily competes in the pole vault and high jump. She signed her National Letter of Intent to compete for the Bobcats before the end of the signing period Wednesday.
Last spring, Prevedello qualified for the Oregon Class 6A State Championships for the third consecutive time as a member of the Sheldon High School Irish. Prevedello has competed in the pole vault in all three appearances at the state meet, finishing third on two occasions and fourth as a freshman. She also placed seventh at the state meet in the high jump.
Her personal-best mark of 11'10" she set in the pole vault propelled her to a district title as a junior, her third during her prep career. Prevedello has also had success finishing at the top of the high jump in individual meets and has experience running 300m hurdles for the Irish.
"She's just going to keep getting better each year as she's continued to do during her high school career," Montana State assistant and jumps coach Tom Eitel said. "She's got a good foundation and that's really important in the vault, so that we don't have to start over when she comes to MSU. She should be able to do what she's doing now when she comes in, then keep working her way up to be a top vaulter in the Big Sky Conference."
The Bobcats look ahead to the start of the 2017 indoor track and field season which begins with the MSU-UM Multis Dual at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on Jan. 9.
