Track and Field Announces 2015 Outdoor Awards

Montana State Track and Field announced its annual awards for the 2015 indoor season.
TOP GUN AWARD: Given to the male and female who recorded the most number of points during the indoor season.
CRISTIAN SORATOS (Sr./Salinas, CA) – The distance runner tallied 80.75 total points for the 'Cats this spring, totaling 20 points at the Big Sky Conference Championships. Soratos advanced to the NCAA Championship finals in the 1500, placing seventh overall and earning All-America honors. The senior made his way to the top of the record book in the 800 and 1500 and was named the BSC meet MVP.
CHANTEL JAEGER (Sr./Yakima, WA) – The battle for women's Top Gun was a tight race, but Jaeger took the spot with 123.75 total points. The senior anchored the women's 4x400 and 4x100 relays, in addition to leading the Bobcats in the 200 and 400. Jaeger chalked up two silver medals at the conference championships, and added one fourth place finish. Jaeger holds the 200 record, ranks second in the 400 and is a member of both record holder relay teams.
OUTSTANDING TRACK PERFORMER:
CRISTIAN SORATOS (Sr./Salinas, CA) – Soratos was named the MVP of the BSC Outdoor Championships after taking first in his two events and earning All-BSC honors. Soratos would eventually advance to the West Regional Championships in Ausin, TX where he placed third overall in the 1500.
HEATHER DEMOREST (Sr./Darby, MT) – Demorest highlighted her final season as a Bobcat by earning Second Team All-America honors in the 3000-steeplechase. The senior advanced to the NCAA Championships after breaking her own school record in the event by over 12 seconds at the NCAA West Regionals.
OUTSTANDING FIELD PERFORMER:
SEAN FERRITER (Sr./Butte, MT) – Ferriter advanced to the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw after leading the 'Cats all season in the event. The Butte, MT native placed second at the conference championships and ranks second in school history in the event. Ferriter found his way to the podium in every regular season meet he competed in, earning a PR at the championships with a throw of 211-08.
CARLEY MCCUTCHEN (Sr./Buckley, WA) – McCutchen continued to dominate the conference in the multi's this outdoor season, breaking the school record in the heptathlon. McCutchen was crowed conference champion in the event, while competing in four additional events throughout the weekend. The senior ranks among the top of MSU's greats, holding four records and sitting in the top ten of a handful of others.
OUTSTANDING FRESHMAN:
KYLE DOUGLAS (Fr./Missoula, MT) – Douglas qualified for the conference championships in the discus throw in the debut outdoor season in Blue and Gold after having a solid season. The freshman placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 166-02, just missing the mark to crack MSU's top-ten list.
CAROLINE HARDIN (Fr./Bozeman, MT) – Hardin aided MSU's distance crew throughout the season, which was highlighted by her performance at the conference championships. Hardin placed fifth in the 10,000 with a time of 36:44.72. The freshman also had a strong performance in the 5,000, placing ninth.
