Demorest, Soratos Claim Two More Weekly Honors

Heather Demorest and Cristian Soratos added another Athlete of the Week honor to their resumes, as they were both named Big Sky Conference Track Athletes of the Week. This is the third time Demorest has earned the accolade in the 2015 outdoor season, and the second time Soratos has.
Demorest, a senior from Darby, Mont., broke her own MSU school record in the 3,000 steeplechase, clocking a time of 10:14.60 to place seventh at the Payton Jordan Invitational in Stanford, Calif. That time also moved Demorest into the Big Sky all-time top 10 list, now ranking ninth. The senior sits first in the conference, 11th in the Division I West Region and 27th in the nation
Soratos, a senior from Salinas, Calif., ran his fastest unconverted time of 3:39.68 in the 1,500 to place fourth in his section at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational. He placed fourth amongst collegiate runners and also moved up to fourth all-time in Big Sky history. His altitude-adjusted time of 3:39.65 ranks fourth in the west region and sixth in the country. He claimed this past indoor season's track honors five out of six possible times.
The 'Cats will compete at home on Friday, May 8 in the Tom Gage Classic. Twenty seniors will be recognized after the conclusion of the women's 5,000-meter race.
