Montana State Track and Field claimed its eighth Big Sky Conference athlete of the week honor this season, as Paige Squire snagged her first honors of the season. Squire earned two top finishes at the Tom Gage Classic for the second week in a row, in addition to breaking her personal-record in the 400-meter hurdles.
The senior crossed the finish line in 58.88 in the 400-meter hurdles, topping her best time and moving up to number two in the conference. This time puts her at 16th in the Division I West Region and is the second fast time in school history. A native of Corvallis, Mont., Squire won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.86 and ran the third leg of the 4x100-meter relay. The relay team moved up to number two in school history, clocking a time of 13.86.
Squire, along with the rest of the track and field team will compete in Cheney, Wash. at the Big Sky Conference Championships beginning Wednesday, May 13.
