Soratos Named Mountain Region Track Athlete of the Year

The country's top miler, Cristian Soratos keeps making strides for Montana State Track and Field as he was the third Bobcat to be named the Mountain Region Track Athlete of the Year, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Friday.
"He has been a great representation of Montana State and is really helping put the program on the map," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "Everyone thinks he came out of nowhere, but this is a result of five rigorous years of training paying off."
Only two other Bobcat track and field athletes have received such honors. Ellie Rudy, a two-time NCAA champion in the pole vault earned the award in 2007 and Patrick Casey, an All-American distance runner in 2011.
"Lyle has done a great job with the progression of Cristian's success through his fifth year. I am proud of both of them and look forward to see where he goes from here."
Soratos will look to become the third Bobcat to win a national title on March 13 and 14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
