Soratos Advances to National Finals, Finishes First in Prelims

Cristian Soratos ran a 3:57.94 mile at the prelims of the NCAA Track and Field National Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, placing first in his heat and first overall. Soratos has one last chance to prove he's the best miler in the country, as he will compete tomorrow against nine other finalist at 5:10 p.m. MT tomorrow evening.
The Mountain Region Track Athlete of the Year holds the fastest collegiate time in the country, thus far this season with a time of 3:55.27. Soratos turned heads in all over the country running a sub-four mile and continues to do turn more as the season progresses.
"It's great to see five years of hard work starting to pay off," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "Cristian ran a great race today, but I know he has more left in him. He still has something he is determined to prove and I hope that gets accomplished tomorrow."
The Salinas, Calif. native earned three Big Sky Conference Title earlier this season and was named the BSC Championship Outstanding Male athlete.
