Four Bobcats compete in three divisions at Mt. SAC Relays/California Invite

Four of Montana State Track and Field's finest kicked off a busy weekend at the Mt. Sac Relays/California Invitational on Thursday. Carley McCutchen and Danielle Muri competed in the California Invitational "A" Heptathlon, representing the women while Powhattan Williamson (California Invitational "A" Decathlon) and Jeff Mohl (Mt. SAC Relays Decathlon" appeared for the Blue and Gold men.
All four fared well considering the excellent level of competition. Jeff Mohl made his senior season debut in the highest level of the decathlon on Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 18. He ended up with a 12th place finish with 5,513, despite no points gained in the 110 hurdles or pole vault. Mohl's teammate Pow Williamson competed in the Calif. Invite "A" division, placing eighth of 14 scorers. His cumulative score of 6,592 marks a lifetime best for the junior from Billings, Mont. In addition to his overall score, he picked up three individual lifetime bests in the shot put (38-03), high jump (6-02.75) and the 1,500 (4:41.23).
In a field of 55 athletes, Carley McCutchen placed ninth in the heptathlon, followed by Danielle Muri in 21st place. McCutchen also notched a PR score, finishing with 5,151, ranking her second all-time in program history, behind current assistant coach Erin Jones Graf. McCutchen finished with lifetime bests in the 200 (25.05), long jump (18-05) and the javelin (120-02).
Muri's lifetime best tally of 4,604 also came with PRs in four out of seven events over the course of the two-day competition. The first-year member of Bobcat Track notched bests in the shot put (40-07.75), 200 (26.18), javelin (122-02) and the 800 (2:36.36).
The weekend continues on Friday, April 18 when the Bobcats compete in the remainder of the Mt. SAC Relays, as well as the Bryan Clay Invitational.
