Horning and Ralstin bring new class total to 12
Montana State Track and Field announced the signing of two more student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers with the Bobcats.
Megan Ralstin, from Lewiston, Idaho, is a 2014 graduate of Lewiston High School and will earned four letters in track and field for the Bengals.
Most recently during her junior season, she was named team MVP and set the record for the program's high point scorer. She was an Idaho State 5A placer in triple jump, 4x100, and 100m hurdles and boasts the Lewiston Bengals school record for long jump and triple jump.
Ralstin is an honor student, achieving an impressive 4.0 Grade Point Average. In addition to her membership with the National Honor Society, she is a valedictorian candidate and AP Scholar.
"Megan is very outgoing and determined," said assistant coach Erin Jones Graf. "She has a strong mind and spunky personality, which goes perfectly with her attention to athletic efficiency. Her successful focus on track and academics will make her a great role model and team leader."
Mitchell Horning will also be joining the Bobcats as a part of the sprint assembly. Thus far, earning three letters in track and field, Horning hails from Eugene, Ore., as a 2014 graduate of Sheldon High School.
During his junior season, Horning earned four Southwest Conference titles, including two individual titles in the 100m and 200m. Overall, he has earned three Oregon State class 6A titles (100m, 200m, 4x100m) and helped his team to a runner-up finish. Setting school records in the 200m and 4x100 relay, Horning still makes time outside his own efforts to be a USATF track official coach and a mentor for Track City Youth Track Club.
"Mitchbrings a very strong prep resume to Bozeman," said head coach Dale Kennedy. "We will expect him to make an immediate impact at the Big Sky Conference level, and hope that he'll add depth to our sprinting group right away."
Horning and Ralstin join a class of 10 that made their commitment to Montana State back in February.
