Multis Open Up First Day of Big Sky Meet

Three Bobcats represented in heptathlon, pentathlon
Montana State kicked the door open on the Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho. While the day only featured the first four events of the heptathlon and the women's pentathlon in its entirety, it was still a good day for MSU.
Freshman Mason Storm sits in 10th place in a field of 15. Thus far, he's picked up 2,548 points. Montana's Austin Emry, who came in third in 2013 behind Jeff Mohl and Powhattan Williamson, is in first with 3,255.
In Storm's first Big Sky Championship appearance, his highest day one finish came in the high jump, tying for eighth place with a height of 5-09.75 (1.77m).
In the pentathlon, Danielle Muri and Jessica Chrisp represented Montana State in their first conference multis showing. Danielle Muri finished in 12th place and a season-high 3,307 points, while Chrisp came in 14th with 3,215.
Muri's shining moment in Holt Arena came in shot put, which she won with a distance of 40-07.75 (12.39m), more than half a foot ahead of second place. Jessica Chrisp's top event finish came in the 800 where she clocked a time of 2:26.68, good enough for fifth place.
Day two is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the 60 meter hurdles in the men's heptathlon. The rest of the championships will be in full swing starting at 3 p.m. with field events and 4 p.m. with running events.
