Bryan Flaig did his job well, whenever his number 89 was called
Every day we look at players who donned the jersey number corresponding to the number of days until the Bobcats open the 2013 season on August 29 against Monmouth. The list of MSU football players by the jersey number is based on preseason rosters. The set of available rosters is complete from 1946-81 and '83-present. Only the 1926-27, 1934, 1937 and 1941 rosters are available in the pre-WWII years. Corrections, additions, or rosters that fill out the set are welcome to blamberty@msubobcats.com.

Chris Houden, TE: Chris Houden came to Montana State as a walk-on tight end, and his blend of size and athleticism immediately turned heads immediately. He has performed well as a long snapper when called upon, but is academically ineligible for the 2013 season.
Spotlight Player: Had Maytag been looking for similes during its memorable “Lonely as a Maytag Repairman” advertising campaign, it could have done worse than “…like a Montana State receiver under Sonny Holland.” Bryan Flaig lived that life. His 71 career catches for 1,244 yards may or may not be enough to earn All-America honors in a single 21st century season, but it was a pretty flashy career in the mid-1970s. In fact, it was just short of the school record at the time. Flaig was a sensation at Missoula Sentinel, winning state championships in football, basketball and track. MSU's ability to lure him out of Missoula speaks to the status of Bobcat football at the time, and he remains a proud Bobcat in his hometown to this day.
Through the Years: Gary Dusenberry (1956), Frank LaMasse (1970-71), Bryan Flaig (1974-76), Dan Davies (1977-78), Neil Parker (1979), Kevin White (1980), Brent Baker (1982), Brent Bateman (1983-84), Scotty Neuman (1985), Toby Pettit (1986), Mike Schwartz (1987-88), Wade Rademacher (1989), Matt Huffield (1989), Jim Gersack (1992-93), Craig Zimmerman (1995), Jesse Marunde (1999, 2001), Demeadri Oliver (2000), Cody Samuelson (2002-03), Jaren Stensland (2004), Mike Van Gorden (2005), Josh Lewis (2006), Steven Foster (2008-11), Chris Houden (2012-present)
