Two PRs highlight closing day of NCAA Hepthatlon
In the second and final day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship heptathlon, Jeff Mohl may not have landed him quite where he wanted to, but still had much to be proud of. Mohl placed 11 in the field of 16 with a score of 5,559 and notched two personal bests in addition to a second day score best of 2,614. (Complete Heptathlon Results)
In the first event of the day, the 60 hurdles, he finished in 11th place overall but with a lifetime best time of 8.31 seconds. His performance kept him in 15th place where he ended up after four events on the first day.
In the pole vault, he was able to stay in his comfort zone launching himself over the bar with a height of 4.90m (16-00.75) and moved into 12th place entering the final event of the heptathlon.
In the 1,000, the final event of a grueling two days, Mohl clocked in with a lifetime best time of 2:44.02, nearly five seconds fast than his previous best, to jump four spots and finish in 11th overall.
Also of note, Mohl finished one place above Montana's Austin Emry, who came in 12th.
“Jeff really came back well today, considering where he was yesterday,” said head coach Dale Kennedy. “He had pretty darn good day, ran a great thousand and capitalized after a tough day one.”
Mohl closes out a very impressive senior season where he amassed six lifetime bests, nearly countless wins and his second Big Sky Conference multis title, as well being named the Big Sky Outstanding Athlete and co-MVP.
