Thrower earns second weekly conference honors of 2012
The Big Sky Conference announced Amanda Murphy as the Conference Field Athlete for the week of April 9, 2012. This is the second time Murphy has earned the honors in 2012 after earning the title during the indoor season back on Jan. 24.
Murphy won the shot put and hammer throw at the Montana State Open on Saturday. She won the hammer throw with a lifetime best distance of 61.52m (201-10.00) bumping her up a place in the Bobcat record books to second all-time. Murphy ranks 10th in the nation in the event and sits in first in the Big Sky. She also won the shot put with a season-best throw of 14.41m (47-03.50), a season best distance for the senior and ranks third in the conference in the event.
The senior thrower from Charlo, Mont. has earned Big Sky Weekly honors six times during her tenure at Montana State.
