MSU visits Portland State Thursday, Eastern Washington Saturday
Montana State basketball coach Brad Huse knows the road in the Big Sky Conference is a tough place. On Thursday the Huse and the Bobcats get an up-close look, visiting Portland State in the Stott Center.
MSU Game Notes vs. Portland State
The matchup pits a pair of teams contending for the Big Sky's top half, which lands teams a home game in the conference tournament in early March. Montana State already owns wins at Idaho State and Northern Arizona this month.
The Bobcats opened Big Sky play with a home loss to Eastern Washington, but responded two nights later, on December 30, with a win over Portland State. Bobcat coach Brad Huse doesn't believe the first meeting between those two schools will be major factors this weekend. “Every team makes adjustments the second time through the league,” he said, “but at this point teams have you scouted well. All the clever actions you run are covered, everyone knows your sets. It's about making plays.”
After Thursday's game, MSU visits Eastern Washington, which beat the Bobcats in Bozeman exactly one month earlier. Huse sees characteristics in both teams that he appreciates.
“Portland State and Eastern are both talented teams, very athletic, and they both have really good individual players that are hard to defend,” Huse said.
